The Eureka Trust closed its doors in Feb 2010. The gaming machine trust funded racing bodies, and other sports as well as a wide range of cultural and artistic ventures.

Following claims that the trust had breeched the protocols of its deed, the Eureka Trust decided to stop funding racing and sport in 2009.

In October 2009, the chief executive of Eureka died while on honeymoon in a tragic snorkling accident.
