Eureka Trust is a charitable trust that operates gaming machines in hotels and taverns for the purpose of raising funds for the local community. Eureka Trust was established in April 2003 with one venue and 18 gaming machines to become one of the larger gaming machine trusts in Christchurch.
Today, Eureka Trust has over 400 machines in 31 venues, predominantly in the Canterbury region, and this number continues to grow as new members join our trust.
All net proceeds (profits) are returned in the form of grants to local community organisations for legislated Authorised Purposes.
In the 12 months to 30 November 2007, Eureka Trust distributed to the community in excess of $5,900,000.00 to the local community from which the monies were raised.
Eureka Trust prides itself on its contribution to the community, as without the distribution of gaming machine funds many local organisations (sports clubs, charities, community groups etc) would struggle to exist.
Eureka Trust operates under the Gambling Act 2003 and the Department of Internal Affairs oversee this to ensure compliance with the Act.
Eureka Trust has funds available for distribution throughout the year. These funds are allocated every month (except in December where there is no meeting to allocate funds). For a list of meeting dates and application close offs please click here. |
